Type of student: Volunteer/extra-curricular (this would be similar to an Honours project)

Type of work: Qualitative methods

Brief synopsis:

Children with burns are often required to use a range of complex and time-consuming treatments to prevent and manage scarring. They may be required to use these treatments for months or years post-burn. However, little is known about the experience of using these treatments and what influences children’s adherence to these treatments.

Therefore, qualitative interviews (using a grounded theory approach) are currently underway with children with burns, their parents and health professionals working in the Pegg Leditschke Children’s Burns Centre at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

We are seeking a volunteer to assist in transcribing these qualitative interviews from audio-recordings, with the potential to also be involved in data analysis and coding.

There is the opportunity for the successful volunteer to contribute to a manuscript for publication.

Prerequisite skills: Proficient typing skills

Time frame: Starting ASAP, time frame estimated 2-3 months, however flexible
