The Working Group on Pneumonia of the European Society of intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) is undertaking a large, international multicentre study on nosocomial pneumonia in the ICU, the PneumoINSPIRE study. PneumoINSPIRE study aims to give an accurate snapshot of the current diagnosis and management of pneumonia on a worldwide scale. More than 70 countries have confirmed participation in the study. Members of the WG on Pneumonia, the Infection Section of ESICM and international ICU experts are participating in the Steering Committee of this study. The Burns, Trauma & Critical Care Research Centre (BTCCRC) of the University of Queensland (UQ) is the coordinating site and will commence recruitment in early 2016.

The student/s will conduct a literature review and will develop skills in research co-ordination and the procedures involved. They will assist in the set up, initiation and preparation of additional material for all participating sites. They principal investigator of the study, Dr Despoina Koulenti will be supervising the student/s.

The study will commence recruitment in early Jan 2016 and expected to finish recruitment by July 2017. The student/s are able to commence now to assist with co-ordination.
