Brief synopsis: Almost all processing and data is digital in nature and represented by discrete arrays including images. Fractals are patterns formed by simple rules that lead to complex multi-scale shapes (see for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fractals_by_Hausdorff_dimension ). In this project, the student will implement some algorithms for creating fractals and fractal images for use in image processing applications, specifically for use in medical imaging. The project will conclude with a thorough study of different types of fractals in these spaces.

Prerequisite skills: Python and/or MATLAB, Image Processing or equivalent
