Researcher biography

Dr Mitra completed his initial Psychiatry training in India. He obtained his MD from the prestigious Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi and went on to complete his Post Doctoral Fellowship in Non Invasive Brain Stimulation for Psychiatric Disorders from the premier National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. He is a Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in Psychiatry from NBE, New Delhi, a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), India, and a Fellow of the Indian Psychiatric Society (FIPS).

Dr Mitra subsequently trained with Queensland Health, Australia to qualify for the award of the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). He is associated with the University of Queensland since November 2018. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist with Monash Health in Melbourne, Victoria.

Dr Mitra has extensive research experience, having worked in more than 20 research projects. He has published more than 55 peer-reviewed articles and volunteers as a reviewer for several psychiatric journals, including Schizophrenia Research and Psychiatry Research.
