2. Australia Return Rotation

During clinical years (Phase 2: Year 3 and Year 4) students will return to Australia to complete a further eight weeks of Australian healthcare training in an Australian clinical setting.

This experience is facilitated by the completion of a final year core rotation (clerkship) within Australia, either within a UQ clinical school, or at an approved external site.    

Students are given some degree of flexibility as to what time of year to make their return and which rotation would be most suitable. Rotations can be completed at any approved site within Australia. Students are responsible for all cost incurred with this rotation.

Travel Insurance

  • To be covered by UQ Travel Insurance, students are responsible for submitting all travel details eight (8) weeks prior to travelling.

Overseas Student Health Cover Refund Process

  1. The student should first approach OSHC during their eight week rotation back in Australia to apply for a ‘holiday credit’. They can do so by bringing their passport (photo page, arrival and departure stamps) and boarding passes/flight itinerary to the OSHC on-campus representative within thirty days of arrival back in Australia. Students can also email these documents with OSHC Holiday Credit Application Form to the member services team at oshc@allianz- assistance.com.au. OSHC will then process a holiday credit for the entire period the student was overseas and their policy will be extended by this period.

  2. On completion of the full program the student must obtain a Confirmation of Program Letter from the Ochsner Partnership Advisor (med.ochsner@uq.edu.au) which confirms the student’s enrolment in the Ochsner program and the dates the student returned to Australia to complete their return rotation.

  3. The student then needs to submit the OSHC Refund Form to the on-campus representative or via email (oshc@allianz- assistance.com.au). The refund form and the letter needs to be accompanied by a copy of their one way ticket home and a copy of the photo page of their passport (if a departure stamp is available, please also send a copy of this in). OSHC will then process their refund into the nominated bank account (Australian or overseas) within ten working days.
