Tips from previous students

  • Accommodation was a unit on hospital grounds - contained everything I needed for the placement. Within 1 minute drive of supermarket etc. Organising contact with staff beforehand was easy. They made my stay very comfortable.
  • Look at the appointments for the day and plan where you would like to observe/get involved.

Great placement location. The whole team out here are phenomenal. Excellent learning opportunities in both the hospital and the GP clinic. The preceptors and other staff love teaching and take the time to help you learn. Lots of practical hands-on experience and lots of opportunities to learn clinical skills. Would recommend to any medical student.

Couldn't have asked for a better placement. Gained a lot of valuable and varied practical experience. All staff went out of their way to get me extra practical experience (eg. calling me when a procedure needed to be done and letting me do it, calling about out of hours presentations/emergencies) and include me in discussions about management etc. They gave me relevant responsibilities, with appropriate oversight and feedback. I felt very included in the team from the start (both at the hospital and the clinic) and genuinely enjoyed being there.
