Presented by the UQ Medical Society, the Ochsner Medical Student Association, and the Office of Medical Education

Conference Report

Thank you to everyone who attended and/or presented at the 2019 Medical Student Research Conference on 9 October 12:30-5pm at UQ Centre for Clinical Research (CCR).

This year’s call for abstracts attracted 53 submissions from which eight oral and 20 poster abstracts were chosen for presentation on the day. The afternoon began with lunch and a chance to mingle with academic staff as well as view posters on display. Professor Stuart Carney, the Medical Dean, opened the conference followed by eight student oral presentations, interrupted by afternoon tea and more poster viewing and networking.

The highlight of the afternoon was the keynote address by Dr Michael Wagels, a specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Senior Lecturer at UQ.  Professor Carney presented the certificates and prizes to all the award winners before closing the conference.  All details are on the Student Research Portal
