Program requirements

Specific Conditions of Medical Training with UQ

As a UQ medical student you are required to complete a number of compulsory pre-commencement Orientation tasks. Some of these tasks can be done well in advance, while others cannot be completed until your enrolment becomes active.

Please refer to the Pre- Commencement Orientation Tasks page for a comprehensive list of tasks, step by step instructions and due dates.

Orientation events

Year 1 MD orientation will be held from Tuesday 28 - Thursday 30 January 2020 in the GHD Auditorium (Room 200), Advanced Engineering Building (Building 49), St Lucia campus.

Year 2 MD orientation will be held on Thursday 30 January 2020 at the St Lucia campus (location TBC).

More information will be sent to your UQ email address around December 2019 to January 2020.

Conditions of offer

If your offer is conditional, your offer will not be finalised, nor will you be able to enrol in the program, until you have met the entry requirements (eg: completed your degree and maintained your GPA) and provided official evidence (eg: full official academic transcript).

Your MD profile

Once you are activated into the MD Program on mySI-net (this is scheduled to happen from the middle of December as offers are finalised), your username and password will be generated by Information Technology Services (ITS) and sent to your mailing address. Please ensure you keep your address updated. If you have an overseas mailing address, ITS will not post this to you.  You will need to contact them directly for the username & password. If you are a current UQ student, you will retain your UQ student ID number, username and password.

If you are a current UQ student, it is important to ensure that the MEDI courses are added under the MD Program and not your previous degree program.

  • Usually, there are approx 20 contact hours per week. Students should anticipate spending at least an additional 30 hours per week on self directed learning. It should be noted that the program is full-time and with a heavy workload.
  • A typical student timetable runs full-time from 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday (this includes two hour blocks for self directed study).

Class attendance is compulsory.

Please refer to the UQ Courses and Programs website for a course list.
